Fisherman's Wharf is as much as a tourist trap as you are ready to get trapped in! Just do not stop at the souvenir stores, explore, and you will get rewarded! First of all it is still a real Wharf. There are real fishermen, and fishing boats there. A lot! There are sea animal, piers, museums, military ships, sailing ships, a submarine, beautiful views of the city, and bay, vibrant crowd. One of my favorite thing there: Pier 41, 47, 45, 43, Hyde Street Pier, Aquatic Park. Avoid Pier 39 and booooooring Ghirardelli Square. Stroll along Jefferson street is one of the most interesting in the city. Coit tower, Embarcadero street are nearby. Neighboring streets on the hills are beautiful. You can see it all here.
